    Google's Evolution in Six MInutes

    Last updated 1 year ago

Like a living being, Google was born, has grown very quickly, and is constantly evolving; becoming a more and more complex entity.

“Our goal is to get you to the answer you’re looking for faster and faster, creating a nearly seamless connection between your questions and the information you seek,” said Ben Gomes, Google Fellow via a Google Blog post.

Although the company didn’t shed too much light on the future of search, there’s a good chance it could look very different moving forward.

“If the past is any indication, we don’t know what search will look like in 2020, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it looks nothing like it does today,” Gomes said.

I couldn't agree with that statement more.  And as far as the evolution of advertising, with it becoming more and more difficult to capture consumers eyes & ears through traditional media, Google is a must-have component of any marketing strategy.  ReachLocal's ReachSearch search-engine marketing platform heavily incorporates Google and was recently named 1 of 13 Adwords Premier SMB Partners based on our direct relationship with Google as well as our transparent reporting and customer service.

For a free web presence consultation, please feel free to contact me to schedule an appointment.  I work with businesses primarily in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Bronx, Long Island, Westchester, Northern New Jersey, and Southern Connecticut.  However, if you own a business outside this area, I will conduct a virtual web meeting with you

Google Announces ReachLocal as more than a reseller: Now ReachLocal is a Google AdWords™ Premier SMB Partner!

    Last updated 1 year ago

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that Google has officially selected ReachLocal as a Google Adwords™ Premier SMB Partner! We were proud to be a Certified AdWords Reseller in the past, but now we’re one of the chosen few worldwide who have what it takes to earn this new, prestigious title.

So why the new title? Simply put, the Certified AdWords Reseller designation didn’t do enough to describe the many services we offer to local businesses – or the high level of service and expertise that have set ReachLocal apart since we were founded in 2004.

“We are excited to launch the Google AdWords Premier SMB Partner program with hand-picked, highly qualified companies like ReachLocal,” said Ben Wood, head of Google’s Americas channel sales partnerships. “Small- and medium-sized businesses will not only benefit from ReachLocal’s in-depth training, but from its seven years of experience in the local market.”

The Google AdWords Premier SMB Partner program is reserved for companies that meet Google’s highest standards of excellence, which is why we’re especially honored to have been hand-picked by Google. After all, since we began, and to this very day, we’ve had one (and only one) focus: to help local business owners like you reach local customers online.

What does Social Media mean to my business?

    Last updated 1 year ago

Most business owners these days are absolutely aware of social media; however a major concern is simply where do I start and what does it mean for my marketing?

Today I read a very informative blog from Heidi Cohen of Clickz.com, a leading marketing news & expert advice website devoted to all things Internet.

I'll mention some highlights and hope you take something of value from it.

    1) Social media networks and blogs account for more than 1 out of every 5 minutes spent online!  Further, four out of five Internet users have visited a social site or blog.

---What you should takeaway from this: Integrate social media into your marketing strategies.  Mirror what advertising you are doing offline and replicate that online.  You need to ask for fans and followers on Facebook & Twitter and actually listen and participate in the comments & discussions to truly promote online word of mouth & online referrals.  Need a solution? Check out ReachCast.

    2) Roughly 2/3 of online adults use social media describing their experience as positive; Plus the 40+ segment is the largest growing age group.

---What you should takeaway from this: Social Media is not a fad, it has become mainstream.  Interact with these consumers and join in on the positive energy.

    3) Social Media is not just Facebook!

---Takeaway: Don't get me wrong, Facebook is dominant specifically in time spent on-site.  However, Google is entering the social fray with Google+, YouTube is the definition of consumers creating and sharing content, Twitter, FourSquare; not to mention a number of online review sites are visited daily where consumers share their views, opinions, and ratings.  What are people saying about your business online?

    4) 2 out of 5 users access social media via their mobile device:

---Takeaway: Remember when phones were phones.  They became portable and mobile.  Then these mobile phones became phone/cameras.  Now our mobile phones are mini-computers where we can easily access the Internet and all the wonders of Social Media.  I can check-in to a business or tweet my thoughts while I'm still standing inside your business.  Soon it will be second nature to rate a restaurant while you're waiting for the check to hit the table.  Seriously consider optimizing your website for mobile devices; make sure you are a visible choice when users are searching for your products or services.  Solution? Check out ReachSearch.

    5) Consumers turn to social media for help with purchase decisions.  Cone Inc. research shows 80% of consumers look at negative comments and 87% look at positive comments prior to buying.

---Takeaway: Ask your current customers to go online and review your business on any number of sites like Yelp, Citysearch, InsiderPages, Google Reviews, etc.  Respond to BOTH positive and negative reviews.
